Cooking for Bangkok
(Oil on canvas, 150 x 200 cm, 2024)

I used to visit Thailand frequently, and the colourful night markets left a lasting impression on me. The atmosphere of sizzling woks, aromatic steam, and endless ingredients piled high at every corner felt like pure theatre. At the centre of this painting is a very famous Bangkok street cook, instantly recognisable in her iconic outfit, ski goggles and camouflage sleeves, as she works the flames with effortless mastery.
