Self-Portait I
(Acrylic on Canvas, 60 x 80 cm, 2013)

My first self-portrait, created during my IB art course, reflects a period of exhaustion, homesickness, and academic pressure. I chose to fragment the image into a grid of small squares, treating each section as an individual painting. This method allowed me to approach the work in manageable parts while also embracing imperfection — the misalignments became a visual echo of disconnection and strain.

The result is both cohesive and fractured: a portrait that speaks less to outward likeness than to an inner state of being.
